Volunteers are people who voluntarily invest their time, effort, knowledge and skills by providing services or activities for the benefit of another person and society as a whole, without claiming material and financial gain. – Croatian Law on Volunteering (Official Gazette, No. 58/07 and 22/13)
The volunteer story in the Association Sunce has started developing since the very beginning of the association in 1998. Every year, the Association records an increase in the number of volunteers who, with their selfless contributions, support the achievement of the strategic goals of the Association, gain experience and knowledge in the fields of environmental protection, nature conservation, sustainable development, and active civic engagement.
As the organizer of volunteering, the Association Sunce is obliged to submit an annual report on volunteering to the Ministry for Demography, Family, Youth, and Social Policy, as the body responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Croatian Law on Volunteering and the development of volunteering policy.
The involvement of international volunteers in the work of the Association began in 2015, mostly through the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, the European Voluntary Service, and later, the European Solidarity Corps.
