Sunce is a civil society organization (CSO) that operates under the NGO Act and the Statute. As such, it has no owner but belongs to all its members.

The bodies of the Association:
 
1. Assembly
2. Supervisory Board
3. Executive Board
4. Executive Director

The Assembly is the highest governing body of the Association Sunce, and it is made up of all active members of the Association who thus participate in the running of the organization. At the Assembly meetings, decisions are made about the members of the Executive and Supervisory Boards, changes to the Statute, the Strategic Plan, financial and work reports, and other organizational and status changes in Sunce.

The Supervisory Board is the highest body that supervises the management and work of the Executive Board between two sessions of the Assembly. Members of the supervisory board are elected through a public tender.

The members of the Supervisory Board for the period from April 15, 2024 to April 15, 2028 are:

  1. Andrijana Parić, M.S. soc. and Professor of Philosophy, Master of Local Development – Joint European Union Master in Transition Areas
  2. Marko Pećarević, Master of Conservation Biology
  3. Marija Nazlić, mag. educ. biol. et. chem.

In the work of the Supervisory Board, the Executive Director, Gabrijela Medunić-Orlića, and the member of the Executive Board, Matea Špika, selected as employee representatives, participate in the work of the Supervisory Board without decision-making rights.

The Executive Board manages Sunce in accordance with the law, the Statute and other internal acts, as well as the decisions of the Assembly and the advice of the Supervisory Board. It answers for the implementation of the Association’s mission and organizational development of the Association. The members of the Executive Board are the Head of Finance and the Executive Director, 2 employee representatives, 1 representative of the Head of organizational units.

The Executive Director is elected through a tender for a period of four years, and in its mandate it is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the decisions of the Executive Board, the coordination of the development of Sunce, through cooperation with the Executive Board and the Heads of Sunce organizational units.

The members of the Executive Board for the period from February 29, 2024 to February 29, 2028 are:

  1. Gabrijela Medunić-Orlić, M.Sc. Chem., B.Sc. Environmental Sciences and Technologies, Executive Director
  2. Samanta Šećer, M.S. forensics, Head of the Department for Finance, Organization and Administration
  3. Zrinka Jakl, M.S. biology and ecology, representative of the Heads of Sunce organizational units, Head of the Department for Nature Protection
  4. Margita Radman, M.S. Biology and Ecology, employee representative, Head of the Education and Information Department
  5. M.Sc. Matea Špika, mag.biol., employee representative, Head of the Department for Nature Protection replacement 

The work of the Executive Board is governed by the Executive Board Rules of Procedure [LINK]. Official Executive Board meetings take place at the Sunce office on the following dates:

LAST QUARTER 2024

  • November 12, 2024, at 10:00
  • December 5, 2024, at 10:00

FIRST QUARTER 2025

  • Dates to be determined at the final 2024 meeting.

Participation in Meetings

Executive Board meetings are open to all employees, active members, and members of Sunce’s Supervisory Board, provided that they submit a prior written notice of attendance. Employees, active members, or Supervisory Board members may propose additional agenda items or express interest in attending a meeting. Such proposals or attendance requests, with a brief explanation, should be sent to the Executive Board via email at [email protected], no later than three working days before the meeting.

Employees and active members may attend the meeting as observers, without participating in the discussions.

Employees and active members who have proposed an agenda item may participate in the part of the meeting specifically related to that agenda item, based on the interest expressed and accompanying rationale, but without voting rights.
