Volunteering in Germany as part of the European Solidarity Corps

In December 2020, the Association Sunce Split, as a support organization within the European Solidarity Corps, sent Monika Lukić to volunteer for the German ASA Association for nine months. The goal of volunteer projects is to enable the acquisition of useful experience, skills and competencies for their personal, educational, social, civic and professional development.

For the readers of our website, Monika summarized her impressions so far.

I’m currently volunteering at the Auslandsgesellschaft Sachsen-Anhalt in Magdeburg. My day to day activities are:
– participating in organizing various projects such as Eurocamp 2021, a two-week gathering of young people from all over Europe.
– writing articles for Einewelt Haus magazine and planning my personal project in September: German-Russian Week.
– typical administrative work in the office and also gaining the experience that will come in handy in the future

Regardless of the lockdown, that is still enforced in Germany, I met great people with whom I live, hang out and travel every weekend somewhere new.
I am glad to volunteer in Germany because, apart from being beautiful, I definitely plan to continue my graduate studies here.

P.s. I’m sorry that people don’t know more about what the European Union has made possible for us and what great opportunities they are missing by not applying to projects like this. Therefore, I continue to spread good word about the projects we do, hoping that will reach many new people who are able to join us.
