Public participation in environmental-related processes at a local level is a fundamental prerequisite for the feasibility and effectiveness of local government decisions. As every local government decision reflects on the lives of citizens, mutual trust and cooperation are necessary to create decisions that are in the interest of citizens, nature and the environment and to enable sustainable development of the local community.
