At the Assembly of Sunce, held on April 15, 2024, both in the premises of Sunce and via the Zoom platform, 20 active members out of a total of 32 active members of Sunce participated. The Assembly was opened by Gabrijela Medunić-Orlić, the executive director, who greeted all attendees and confirmed the quorum. Following that, the agenda was presented, and ultimately the following decisions important for Sunce’s operations were made:
Election of members of the Supervisory Board
The executive director reminded the Assembly members that a public call for candidates for the Supervisory Board members was conducted from March 6 to March 15 this year. Andrijana Parić, Marija Nazlić, and Marko Pećarević applied for the competition, which was published on Sunce’s website. All candidates submitted a motivational letter and a CV, thus meeting the requirements of the call.
These candidates are former external members of Sunce’s Management Board, all interested in engaging and supporting the new organizational structure of Sunce, namely the Supervisory Board. Therefore, the Executive Board proposed their election to the Supervisory Board.
The decision was made unanimously, and the proposed members of the Supervisory Board were elected for a mandate from April 15, 2024, to April 15, 2028.
Formation of a new Ethics Committee
The Assembly also agreed to the amendments and supplements to the Code of Ethics and its alignment with the new Statute of Sunce. These amendments changed Article 16, specifically the criteria for individuals eligible for candidature in the Ethics Committee. According to the amendments, members of the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board are not eligible for candidature.
Employees Maja Golem, associate in public relations and communication, Ana Miletić, expert associate in Nature Conservation Programme, and Miranda Šimac, project manager and former Ethics Committee member were nominated for the Ethics Committee. The candidates were selected unanimously, with Miranda Šimac additionally chosen as the chair of the Ethics Committee and the commissioner for the protection of employees’ dignity. The mandate of the new Ethics Committee lasts from April 15, 2024, to April 15, 2028.
Adoption of the Work Report 2023
The Assembly also presented the Work Report for 2023 and the results of work towards the goals of the Strategic Plan of Association Sunce 2021 – 2026. Results related to Strategic Goal 1, waste management on land and sea, were presented by Tea Kuzmičić Rosandić, project manager. Strategic Goal 2, related to education and influencing environmentally responsible behavior, was presented by Margita Radman, head of the Department of Education and Information, and communication aspects were presented by Maja Jurić, head of the Department of Communication and Advocacy. Furthermore, Strategic Goal 3, related to influencing public policies in the field of nature protection, environment, and sustainable development, was presented by Gabrijela Medunić-Orlić, and Strategic Goal 4, related to nature and sea conservation, was presented by Matea Špika, project manager in the Nature Conversation Programme.
The executive director also addressed organizational development, particularly concerning employees, membership, and restructuring processes. Samanta Šećer, finance manager and member of Sunce’s Executive Board, presented the financial report for the previous year. The Work Report for 2023 was unanimously accepted and can be found here.
