In accordance with the Law on Volunteering and the internal acts of Sunce, a volunteer of Sunce can be any adult who is a member of the association or who has expressed an interest in volunteering.
Volunteer work on projects and activities at Sunce
The projects and activities of Sunce from 2023 in which volunteers participated are the following:
“Solidarity for Green Dalmatia 2021” and “Solidarity for Green Dalmatia 2022” are projects funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps program.
A total of three ESC volunteers participated in educational and organizational-logistical activities. Two volunteers participated in mentoring the ESC volunteers. 12th Split Bike Tour
At last year’s Split Bike Tour, a record of 36 volunteers participated! Along with our ESC volunteers, there were 26 students from the Health, Natural Science, and Tourism and Hospitality School in Split, as well as scouts from the “Spinut” Marine Scouts Troop. Read more about the event here.
Project “LIFE Artina”
As part of this five-year project focused on the protection of specific target species of seabirds: Yelkouan Shearwater, Scopoli’s Shearwater, and Audouin’s Gul, volunteers participated in clean-up actions and conducted interviews on the islands where the project was implemented for research purposes. The article includes research conclusions about the awareness of this topic and the project’s impact on the local population.
Project “From River to the Sea – Let’s Be Plastic Free”
During this project, the aim of which is to reduce the pressure of plastic waste pollution in the Adriatic Sea, our ESC volunteers held educational lectures on marine litter and helped in monitoring the collected waste. You can learn more about the project at this link.
Public events
At the increasingly popular Swap Fair, held monthly at Club Zone, ESC and local volunteers helped in transporting, receiving and displaying all the interesting items for exchange. Besides that, volunteers created and led the 1st Sunce Pub Quiz and helped us start ŠIZIKA – workshops for sewing, patching, and creative activities.
