Associate educator

Workplace description:
- designs, organizes and participates in the implementation of educational projects and activities,
mentors volunteer educators, - organizes actions as part of projects/services or separate activities,
- organizes, prepares and implements educational activities for different target groups, especially in the field of Education for sustainable development and protection of the environment and nature in educational institutions and higher education institutions.
- maintains contacts and establishes new ones with educational and higher education institutions and teachers and maintains a database of contacts,
- organizes and participates in the implementation of the Association’s public events (bicycle tours, marking of environmental dates, workshops, exhibitions, etc.) and prepares reports on the implementation,
- creates informative and educational materials for users,
- creates evaluation instruments and carries out processing of results, prepares reports and conducts monitoring and evaluation of implemented activities,
- follows appropriate professional literature, examples of good practice and research related to education,
- monitors policies related to education for environmental protection and sustainable development at the national and local level and participates in advocacy activities,
- prepares relevant materials for the media, the Association’s website and, if necessary, other websites,
- participates in the implementation and development of the Association’s Green Trips,
- closely cooperates with program and project managers in order to collect and exchange information and materials for the development and implementation of educational projects and activities,
- participates in membership development, work and communication with members,
- participates in the Association’s organizational development activities,
- carries out other tasks defined by projects and through the work of teams, and as needed by the organization.
Conditions:
- Bachelor of Science in natural or social sciences
- work experience in similar jobs and previous experience in providing education, especially for children and young people,
- high quality of written and oral expression, and written and oral argumentation,
- excellent written and oral knowledge of Croatian and English,
- excellent computer skills,
- category B driver’s license (active driver).
Advantages:
University diploma of teacher of natural or social sciences or higher vocational education with completed additional pedagogical psychology education.
- Formal or informal additional education related to education for environmental protection and sustainable development,
- completed training for a volunteer coordinator,
- work or volunteering in the civil society sector,
- experience in applying environmentally responsible principles in everyday life (separate waste collection, composting, etc.),
- knowledge of environmental and nature protection,
- work experience and/or knowledge of the nature and environmental protection sector in Croatia,
- knowledge of the principles of action and actors of civil society in the Republic of Croatia and the EU,
- active diver
Required candidate profile:
Interest and sensibility for working with children and young people.
- Sensitivity to environmental and nature protection problems and high motivation for engagement in nature and environment protection,
- willingness to introduce changes that result in greater environmental responsibility,
- good organizational, logistical and operational skills,
- good communication and presentation skills,
- communicativeness, persistence, thoroughness, creativity, adaptability to the environment and experience working with people of different profiles.
- Strong willingness to work in a team, but also independence in work, responsibility and proactivity,
- ability to work simultaneously on several topics/projects,
- willingness to adapt to sudden deadlines and flexibility in working hours,
- willingness to learn and acquire new skills,
- perseverance and creativity in finding solutions,
- willingness to travel in the Republic of Croatia and abroad.
What we offer:
The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, creative and flexible work environment, alongside people with many years of experience in educating and informing the public and managing educational projects as well as projects aimed at protecting nature and the environment. We offer the possibility of acquiring new knowledge and skills related to the implementation of education for environmental protection and sustainable development, as well as specific topics within this area (seabirds, marine waste and fisheries). The selected candidate will have the opportunity to strengthen knowledge and skills related to the organization of public actions and events, as well as familiarization with project cycle management. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to network at the national and international level through participation in trainings, working bodies, meetings, workshops and conferences in the field of education, nature and environmental protection, and sustainable development as well as the civil society sector.
With the selected candidate, we will conclude a work contract for a certain period of time (1 year) with the possibility of extending the contract. The trial period is 3 months.

Candidate selection procedure:
A three-member committee will read all received applications and, based on their quality assessment, will select a maximum of eight candidates to enter the shortlist, with whom interviews will be conducted and, if necessary, testing. Based on the interview and test results, the committee will select the best candidate. Candidates will be informed about the results of the competition and the possible interview via e-mail.
