Public events for students

On Friday March 17, 2017 two public events were held on the themes Sustainable tourism and Sustainable waste management for 80 students and professors at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Economics and Department of Marine Studies, as well as 72 pupils of Split 3 primary school.

The events themselves are part of the socially beneficial learning program that the Association Sunce conducts through a two-year project Students learn about civic engagement – socially useful learning in nature and environment protection.

The aim of public events was to increase the knowledge and to inform students and other target groups about these topics.

One public event included the presentation of the students of the Faculty of Chemical Technology for other students and faculty professors and the presentation of a pilot-project for separation of waste at FCT. After that, the student of the Faculty of Philosophy held a brief education of the pupils of Gripe Primary School, after which various competing activities followed. The most successful in these activities was the 3B class who won a free Green day tour organized by the Association Sunce.

For the purpose of promoting sustainable waste management and the development of habits of ecological behavior in students, after the activities carried out, all participants were able to view a small exhibition of pupil artworks made of recycled materials.

The second public event “Sustainable tourism, opportunity – not utopia” was held at the Faculty of Economics in Split, where Mladen Tomić’s lectures on the green building of the Hotel Split were organized, the influence of tourism on the local community of Slađane Pavlinović and the presentation of the EkoPartner program by Jakša Božanić. After the lectures, work was organized in groups led by students of the Faculty of Economics and the University of Department of Marine Studies.
