4th Split biking tour is behind us. This year’s tour, with joint forces, was organized in cooperation with BK Marjan, County Bicycle Alliance and County Split-Dalmatia, so that the city of Split received a high-quality biking event.

The weather was not kind to us, so instead of the announced date, the bicycle tour had to be transferred for a week later, on Saturday, September 26, 2015, starting at 15:00. The delay did not go hand in hand because we were forced to choose the time of the start between the Saturday Morning Race of Mrdujska regatta and the Sunday soccer derby between Split and Hajduk Split. Because of the safety of cyclists, weather forecasts, and some fanatical tendencies of some of Sunce’s employees, we chose to do have the tour on Saturday.

The weather was just what we wanted. Sunny, yet not too hot, ideal for pedaling. About 150 participants gathered in time on Žnjan. Among the first ones, the Split police officers appeared on bikes that proved to be a real hit and enthusiasm among the citizens. Their kindness and presentation were for every praise! All the participants were listed, got t-shirts and numbers for free tombola, while our beloved young volunteers from the Natural Science School conducted surveys among bikers. These surveys will soon be used for graduation work. The crowd was getting bigger and the time had come to go.

Driving along the sea has been quiet, maybe a bit faster than expected, so we have a bit of an uprising on the alternative start at the bottom of the Prokurative organized by BK Marjan for all of whom the starting route of about 14 kilometers was a bit too much. We were looking forward to 15.30 and everybody set off across the West Coast, around the Split gem of Marjan to the Poljud stadium.

The band was already warming up, so the bikers were welcomed with warm rhythms. Along with the band, cyclists could taste free donuts, the police promoted a safe bicycle ride, the Faculty of Kinesiology at the booths measured all the muscle and fat in the body. Those who were not happy with the results have the whole year to work on themselves and, occasionally compare the results, so let’s see who was worth it.
There was a lot of rampage on the line. We are pleased that the children received a lot of awards. There were biking gadgets, hairstyles, dinners, movie theater tickets, kayaking, a massage and Zip line above Omiš as the main prize.
With another music block, we came to the end of the cycling circuit. Here we have secured some more rewards for those more challenging. After a couple of rounds of training, Marko has earned this year’s title of the best “alkar”of this year’s bicycle tour.

We in the Sunce Association really hope that you are all satisfied, we are aware of possible mishappening, but we will make it that every year we have a better and better bicycle tour as the cycling infrastructure continues to develop while the status and safety of cyclists is always on the first place.
