A panel discussion on sustainable waste management will be held in Makarska on June 4th, organized by the City and the Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development Sunce. The forum is held as part of the project “Gather, arrange, conscientiously dispose”, implemented by the City of Makarska with the aim of raising public awareness of the importance of responsible waste management.
Within the project, whose specific goals are separate waste collection, home composting and reuse of objects, Association Sunce is in charge of a number of services, such as workshops for children, radio shows, informing and education of citizens, production of leaflets and brochures and participation in several public events. Also, Association Sunce employees will participate in the celebration of the European Week of Sustainable Development on May 31, 2019.
Workshops are planned for the children of the kindergarten Biokovsko zvonce and for lower grade students of two primary schools from Makarska: the Elementary School of Father Petar Perica and the Elementary School of Stjepan Ivičević. They aim to raise awareness of the importance of responsible waste management among their citizens, with an emphasis on waste prevention, separate waste collection, the importance of home composting and reusing, all in order to reduce waste.
Students will also have a competition scheduled for the fall, and the works will be presented at the Opportunity Fair. The main prizes and gifts and thanks for participation are provided for the winners.
