GOOD Initiative has been bringing together civil society organizations engaged in non-formal education and human rights since 2008. GOOD advocates for the systematic and quality introduction of human rights education and democratic citizenship education into the educational system.
Focus of the GOOD Initiative:
The GOOD Initiative develops and implements various educational programs, tools, and materials that enable young people to become responsible and active members of society. Through projects like “GOOD Školica,” educational sessions are organized on topics such as media literacy, human rights, political literacy, sustainable development, and violence prevention. Additionally, the initiative provides support to teachers and educational professionals through manuals and e-courses, such as SKOCKANO, which enables the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary for the successful implementation of non-formal education programs. SKOCKANO also represents a quality assurance system that supports associations in improving educational work.
It is important for Sunce to be part of the GOOD initiative:
At the end of 2021, Sunce joined the GOOD initiative. Membership in the GOOD Initiative provides access to a wide range of educational programs and materials that support the development of civic competence among young people. Through cooperation with other organizations, members can exchange experiences, participate in joint projects and initiatives, and contribute to shaping educational policies that promote human rights, democracy, and active citizenship.
Under the GOOD Initiative, Sunce has access to the following:
- SKOCKANO: along with various e-courses, as of June 1, 2023, Sunce carries the SKOCKANO quality label based on its educational programs. This label includes standards and criteria that guarantee the quality of non-formal educational programs and is dedicated to the values and principles of non-formal education in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. This allows Sunce to enhance its educational programs by adhering to the System’s standards and criteria, achieving better educational outcomes and the impact of its training. It also confirms that Sunce works professionally, making it a more desirable partner and collaborator for various stakeholders. Furthermore, Sunce is more visible both among organizations and educational institutions as well as within the general public.
- Free access to educational materials: Over 30 publications and teaching materials developed by member organizations of the GOOD Initiative. These materials cover a wide range of topics, including human rights, political literacy, media literacy, and violence prevention.
- Participation in shaping educational policies: The GOOD Initiative actively participates in political processes and advocates for educational policies. Sunce, like other members, has the opportunity to participate in creating demands for the introduction of civic education in schools, thus directly influencing the educational system.
- Networking and cooperation with civil society organizations: By being a member of the GOOD Initiative, Sunce is part of a network of civil society organizations working on non-formal education and human rights. This enables us to collaborate, exchange experiences, and jointly develop programs that address the needs of students and the community
