When we launched the VolonTERRA – Active Schools Initiate Changes! project at Sunce last year, our goal was to empower educational professionals to become catalysts for change within their schools. We wanted to demonstrate that education is not just about transferring knowledge, but also about creating opportunities for students to actively engage in their communities and develop awareness around environmental sustainability.
For all interested teachers and educators who wish to expand their knowledge, below you will find all relevant information, as well as practical literature and free educational materials.
How to encourage sustainable values, volunteering, and social competencies among students?
With the completion of the final module for educational professionals within the VolonTERRA – Active Schools Drive Change! project, an important chapter of the initiative has come to a close. Through six educational workshops, participants, representatives of educational institutions from the Split-Dalmatia County were equipped with knowledge, skills, and practical tools.
They learned how to promote sustainable values among students, develop education for volunteering, and motivate children to actively participate. At the same time, the workshops helped strengthen students’ self-confidence and develop their social skills to better prepare them for their roles as responsible and proactive members of the community.
During the implementation of the modules for educational professionals, we collected literature and publications covering topics such as volunteering, social skills development, youth work, and environmental responsibility.
To facilitate access for all interested individuals, we’re providing a complete list of free educational materials, along with links to the original publications only in Croatian version.
Get involved in the final activities of the VolonTERRA project
We invite all educational professionals to share their valuable materials with us! We’ll be happy to add them to the list to make them accessible to a broader network of experts.
For additional support in organizing volunteering activities, we recommend Association Mi – a regional volunteer center with extensive experience in this field. Also, Sunce is always open to new volunteers and collaborators.
Until the end of the project, we still look forward to volunteer actions for setting up an outdoor classroom at Brda Elementary School, and the official opening during Outdoor Classroom Day in November 2025.
Follow the activities of the VolonTERRA project on our website and join the change – through volunteering or becoming a member of the Sunce Association!
