The Association Sunce, for the occasion of marking Earth Day, in cooperation with utility company Čistoća d.o.o. is organizing for the sixth time in a row the competition for the best class project related to the topic of waste and the principles of responsible waste management – reduce, recycle and recycle.
The contest titled “Before and After – students for the Earth day 2017” is conducted for elementary and high schools in Split and its surrounding areas.
It is divided into three categories for students from 1st to 4th grade, students from the 5th to the 8th grade and students from 1st to 4th grade of high schools, with the aim of raising awareness about the issue of waste in the environment and promoting the principles of responsible behavior with waste.
Within the competition, from February 6 to March 31, 2017, pupils, under the guidance of the classmates/teachers, should devise a class project through which they will promote responsible waste management and principles to reduce, reuse and recycle and thus change the environment for to the better.
Each class project needs to perpetuate with photographs how it looks after the pupil’s project and how it looked like before.
On Monday, April 3, 2017, schools which are included in the competition, will organize volunteers and educators of the Association Sunce, where students will have the opportunity to present the project and submit the material related to the project (work, photography, video, presentation, etc.) with the title information of the class project, school and classroom.
Representatives of the Sunce Association and Čistoće d.o.o. will make a decision about winning projects.
When evaluating projects, the following criteria will be considered:
the contribution of promotion and implementation of the principle: reduce, reuse and recycle,
interestingness, innovation of project idea,
project presentation,
the connection with Earth Planet Day (theme of this year’s Earth Day is Environmental and Climate literacy),
contribution to environmental protection in general.
All class projects will be presented at a ceremony at the Čistoća d.o.o. – Split, and the date of the ceremony will be notified later.
The first-placed classes from all three categories will be awarded a Green day out in the Sunce organization by their own choice.
The second class will be rewarded with a Green day out in the area where the school is located, while all other schools and classes will be rewarded for participating with a gift.
