Residents of Vis and Komiža became EkoPartners!

Green tourism, sustainable tourism, ecological certification – are just some of the positive trends in Croatia. Guests are increasingly looking for a tourist offer of accommodation and activities that care for the environment. Therefore, Sunce Association has created an ecological certification program in small tourist facilities – EkoPartner.

Last week, our partners from the island of Vis have joined the renters of two Adriatic pearls – Lastovo and Dugi otok. At the presentations in Komiža and in the city of Vis, the importance of “greening” accommodation, the principles of sustainable tourism, ways of saving water, electricity and separate collection of waste and composting have been studied.

We are proud to point out 7 new EkoPartner developers who have decided to apply sustainable tourism measures to their facilities and move to sustainable business. Each of the 7 renters was visited by project leader Jakša Božanić and EVS volunteer Nastja Logar where they jointly went through the criteria and methods of saving energy, water and waste separation. So, from the beginning of next season, the new EkoPartner will highlight the deserved certificate and advertise as ecologically responsible accommodation.

We invite all the renters in Split to join the next presentation of the EkoPartner program in Split, 30.11. at 18:30 in the Art Gallery!

Activities related to promoting responsible waste management in tourist facilities Eco-partner are funded from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund through the project “Together and Active – a responsible making of waste and waste management”.

Croatia’s tourism development strategy also places green tourism among 10 development priorities. In order to contribute to the reduction of environmental pressures, part of the activities of the green action plan of the Republic of Croatia is aimed at “greening” the existing tourism activities.
