As part of the project Students learn about civic engagement – service learning in nature and environment protection, students from four faculties of the University of Split in cooperation with the mentorships of the Association Sunce organized two public events. For the purpose of promoting sustainable waste management and reducing the amount of improperly disposed plastic in the environment, students at the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Faculty of Philosophy in Split held an event titled “Plastic Detox”. On 06/05/2017. on Split shore for the occasion of the Day of Environmental Protection, citizens had the opportunity to paint a canvas bag and take it home. Citizens also had the opportunity to fill out a question about waste separation in the Split area. The results will serve in further work of the Association.
Students of the Faculty of Economics and the Department of Marine Studies 08.06.2017. held a public event titled “Educational Coffee at Home Table” in the City Library “Marko Marulić” as a way to promote sustainable tourism. After the presentation of the students about the pressure of tourism in protected areas and a new form of sustainable tourism were taught by Director of Nature park Biokovo Velimir Vidak and Director of Hotel Split Mladen Tomić. After the lecture part, an interactive workshop was held in which all the visitors participated. After the public event, we all went together to the table with local products.
