Since June 2023, Sunce has been a proud holder of the SKOCKANO – Organisational Quality Label, awarded on the basis of the quality of our educational programmes.

What is SKOCKANO?

SKOCKANO is a quality assurance system that supports associations in improving their educational work. It includes standards and criteria designed to ensure the quality of non-formal education programmes, from their planning and development through implementation to evaluation. The system is committed to the values and principles of non-formal education and encourages organisations to continuously improve their educational work.

The quality label represents a guarantee of high-quality work for participants, partners, donors, schools, and other key stakeholders. It demonstrates that educational programmes are underpinned by a thoughtful and professional approach, with a clear commitment to the quality of both the learning experience and learning outcomes.

SKOCKANO is also a pioneering and innovative initiative aimed at contributing to the introduction of quality standards in the work of civil society organisations and strengthening their educational activities. It was developed by member organisations of the GOOD Initiative to provide civil society organisations with a support system for developing and improving their educational programmes, while contributing to greater recognition and establishment of the educational role of associations.

What does the quality label mean for Sunce?

Receiving the SKOCKANO label is not simply confirmation that our educational programmes meet certain standards. It is also a tool that helps us continuously review, develop, and improve them.

By applying SKOCKANO standards and criteria, we can further improve our educational programmes, achieve better learning outcomes, and increase their impact. At the same time, we demonstrate the professionalism of our educational work, become a more recognisable and desirable partner for various stakeholders, and help build trust in the work of civil society organisations.

For participants in our educational programmes, the label provides additional assurance that they are taking part in a programme that has been carefully, thoughtfully, and professionally designed.

How did we obtain the SKOCKANO label?

Obtaining the quality label did not happen overnight. The process of receiving the SKOCKANO label involved an evaluation of our educational work and meeting the majority of 62 criteria across six quality standards.

These standards cover key aspects of the development and implementation of non-formal education programmes:

• Standard A: The organisation implements non-formal education programmes in accordance with the values and principles of non-formal education.
• Standard B: The organisation strategically plans and manages non-formal education programmes.
• Standard C: The organisation develops and implements non-formal education programmes in accordance with the needs of the target group.
• Standard D: The organisation communicates clearly, appropriately, and in a timely manner with target groups and participants.
• Standard E: The organisation ensures and supports the expertise and qualifications of programme facilitators.
• Standard F: The organisation regularly evaluates all aspects of the implementation of its non-formal education programmes.

This process enabled us to examine different aspects of our work, recognise what we are already doing well, and identify areas for further improvement.

Quality that drives change

At Sunce, we see education as more than simply transferring knowledge. We want our educational programmes to help participants develop competencies, think critically about the challenges around us, connect with others, and actively contribute to creating positive change in their communities.

That is why SKOCKANO is more than just a label we display alongside our name. It represents our commitment to high-quality, thoughtful, and responsible educational work.

Since June 2023, we have proudly held the SKOCKANO Organisational Quality Label as recognition of the work we have accomplished so far, but also as an incentive to continue learning, developing, and creating even better educational programmes for our participants and our community.
