This year’s European Mobility Week aims to raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility with the motto “Safe and Healthy with Sustainable Mobility” and promotes behavior change in favor of active mobility, public transport and other intelligent transport solutions.

On the occasion of the European Mobility Week and the celebration of Car Free Day, the Association Sunce is organizing the tenth Split Biking Tour. Given the restrictions to which public events are subject due to the epidemiological situation, we will mark the Split Biking Tour in a slightly different way, without a public event and a joint ride through the streets of the city as in previous years. Nevertheless, we want to see as many citizens as possible on a bicycle and jointly send a message about possible improvements to the cycling infrastructure and ways to encourage active mobility.

We invite you to ride your bike to work, to your favorite cafe, to the beach or just for recreation in the week from 16 to 22 September, and to record all the problems with a picture or video, but also good solutions already implemented, as well as your suggestions related to cycling and/or infrastructural situation and thus participate in changing the image of the city.

The Association Sunce will award the best posts with over 20 different awards from our sponsors and partners, and we will convey your suggestions and compliments to the working group “Strategy for the Development of the City of Split until 2030”, of which we are a part. In order to be eligible for the prize, images or recordings need to be shared as a post on Facebook or Instagram and Association Sunce needs to be tagged.
We are officially starting the Mobility Week by setting up the stand of the Association Sunce on September 16, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at Marjanska vrata, where our volunteers from the European Solidarity Corpse will distribute fruit to all cyclists present.

On the spot, the remains of the fruit will be prepared for composting in biowaste containers and, in addition to the brochure, will educate all interested parties about the use of compost (humus) and various methods of composting.

We will end this year’s Split Biking Tour on Car Free Day, September 22, when participants will be able to pick up their prizes at the stand of Association Sunce set up on the Split waterfront, at the bottom of Marmontova Street, from 5 to 8 p.m.

At both events, all interested citizens will be able to get acquainted with the work of the Association Sunce, become a member, donate and thus contribute to the work of the association.

We invite all interested citizens to join us at the tenth Split Biking Tour of the Association Sunce and in this way mark this important environmental date.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors and donors of this event.
