The project is implemented by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/propark.ro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Association ProPARK<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from Romania commissioned by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bfn.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Bundesamt fur Naturschutz<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(BfN) from Germany, with the\u00a0<strong>aim to support and coordinate the development of national and regional plans for capacity building\u00a0<\/strong>for CBP Programme of Work on Protected Areas (PoWPA) implementation in Eastern Europe.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Although capacity development is critical for supporting effective protected area management, there are very few coordinated and \u00a0 comprehensive capacity building programmes in Europe. In \u00a0Eastern Europe there are predominantly project based, one-off training courses which they lack any systematic and sustained approach.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>To contribute to the project goal achievement, the following project specific objectives were set:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u2022 carry out a training and capacity needs assessment in all the target countries, with a focus on the countries where model capacity programmes will be developed through the project;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 elaborate plans for model approaches and identify the possible implementing agencies;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 identify and promote centres of good practice for capacity building in the PA management field;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 develop the capacities of these centers to implement these programmes \u00a0&#8211; \u00a0by training the trainers, developing an online platform, a network of specialists, etc;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 identify funding possibilities for the capacity building programmes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The projects consist of two stages. The \u00a0first \u00a0stage \u00a0includes a \u00a0training \u00a0needs \u00a0assessment conducted in the 23 target countries, while the second \u00a0stage includes development of national\/regional capacity building plans and curricula proposals.
