On 1st<\/sup>\u00a0January 2016 Association Sunce started with a new project\u00a0Students learn citizenship – Service-Learning for nature conservation and environmental protection<\/strong>\u00a0with the duration of 2 years.<\/p>\n

Project is financed by German foundation\u00a0The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>(DBU), one of the largest European foundations which is promoting innovative environmental projects.<\/p>\n

Associates on the project:\u00a0Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Faculty of Chemistry and Technology<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Faculty of Economics<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0University Department of Marine Studies<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0all from\u00a0University of Split<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The objectives of the project and project activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Support civic engagement and to raise public awareness with a\u00a0special focus on environmental protection.<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
\n

Specific objectives:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Education and empowerment of young people for\u00a0active citizenship participation<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0mobilization of volunteering<\/strong>\u00a0in <\/span>environmental sector on Sustainable Waste Management and Sustainable Tourism issues through service-learning.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Encouraging and improvement of participation of young people in research, educational and public awareness activities related to\u00a0Sustainable Tourism<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Sustainable Waste Management<\/strong>\u00a0issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. To increase the public awareness on importance of\u00a0Sustainable Waste Management\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sustainable Tourism<\/strong>\u00a0issues through environmental days celebration and public presentation in cooperation with media.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Following activities and supporting methods are planned in order to reach project overall and specific objectives:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Identification of good practice of Service-Learning with focus on environmental and nature protection at Universities in Germany<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Introductory Workshop on project and service-learning programme for the representatives of all partner Faculties<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Learning from the practice; visit <\/span>to examples of service-learning at Universities in Germany with workshop<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Training on coaching, project management and collaborative work with young people.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Development of the concept of a service-learning program with an environmental focus on the issues \u201cSustainable Waste Management\u201d and \u201cSustainable Tourism\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Internal workshops with representatives of each partner Faculty<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Development of the concept of a service-learning program with an environmental focus on the issues \u201cSustainable Waste Management\u201d and \u201cSustainable Tourism\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Drafting of 4 service-learning programmes<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Implementation of a service-learning program with an environmental focus on the issues \u201cSustainable Waste Management\u201d and \u201cSustainable Tourism<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Organization of different public events as part of international environmental days\u2019 celebrations<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Promotion of volunteering, experience and knowledge sharing: Preparation and organization of lectures for students;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Preparation, promotion and distribution of the handbook<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The total value of the project is 125.826,02, with EUR 65.514,00 being secured by the DBU and the remaining amount of EUR 63.312,02 is co-financed by the Sunce Association funds.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
