Do you envision your schoolyard as a place where students learn, connect, and enjoy nature? Association Sunce is giving you the opportunity to turn that vision into reality. In celebration of <strong>Earth Day<\/strong>, we\u2019re launching a competition that could bring your school <strong>financial support to redesign its outdoor space <\/strong>in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DesirMED: nature-based solutions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This competition is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/projects\/desirmed-demonstration-and-mainstreaming-of-nature-based-solutions-for-climate-resilient-transformation-in-the-mediterranean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DesirMED<\/a> project, which recognizes nature-based solutions (NbS) as key to climate change adaptation and improving quality of life in urban areas. As the name suggests, nature-based solutions are interventions that use nature and the natural functions of healthy ecosystems to address climate-related challenges. These are not simply actions aimed at reducing human impact, like cutting down on waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re looking for creative ideas that blend nature and functionality. Showcase your creativity by <strong>designing your school\u2019s outdoor space<\/strong> using <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/news\/nature-based-solutions-are-the-key-to-climate-change-adaptation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nature-based solutions<\/a> and <strong>sustainable, eco-friendly elements<\/strong>. Through the DesirMED project, two schools will receive financial support to bring their projects to life, while a third winning school will be invited to participate in an educational workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications are open until <strong>April 4, 2025<\/strong>. Beyond the chance to enhance and green your school, participating in this competition brings many other benefits. Students will learn how small ecological actions can lead to long-term positive impacts, they\u2019ll develop teamwork skills, and gain a hands-on understanding of sustainability.
