For years, Sunce has been dedicated to protecting nature and the environment. With expertise and persistence, we have achieved a lot, and with your support, we can do even more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solving environmental challenges together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the key aspects of our work is Green Phone<\/a> \u2013 a free tool that allows citizens to report environmental issues and seek advice from Sunce’s legal team.<\/strong> Through the Green Phone, we enable swift responses to problems and empower the public to actively participate in nature protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024 alone, we received 129 reports <\/strong>\u2013 ranging from waste issues to marine pollution. We have already resolved 67 cases<\/strong>, while awaiting responses from institutions on the rest. Thanks to our swift action, last summer we helped initiate the repair of a broken sewage pipe in Zenta Bay in just two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are dedicated to expanding protected areas in the Adriatic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While addressing urgent environmental issues, we are also working on long-term solutions for nature protection. As part of the Life Artina<\/a> project, we have identified areas of special protected area for birds<\/strong>, which are now one step closer to being designated as special protection areas within the NATURA 2000 network. Areas of special importance for seabirds are not only vital for the birds themselves but also for the conservation of biodiversity. Protecting seabird habitats is crucial for preserving the entire ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A public consultation is expected soon for a regulation that will significantly increase the area of protected marine areas, specifically the ecological network, from the current 9.4% to about 30%, helping to achieve the goals of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. In this context, we hope for the imminent declaration of the special reserve Stupi\u0161\u0107e <\/strong>near Komi\u017ea, for which we have contributed our expert support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunce’s advocacy is driving change<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Advocating for sustainability brings real change. Through our advocacy, we have achieved an important step in reducing waste at public events in Split. For the first time, the Advent in Split 2024 <\/a>used reusable cups, significantly reducing the amount of waste produced.<\/strong> Public events typically generate large amounts of waste, and these changes show how, through collective efforts, we can reduce the negative impact on the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the And where do you anchor?<\/a><\/em> campaign, we informed numerous sailors and sea enthusiasts about the importance of preserving the Adriatic and sustainable practices at sea. This campaign directly resulted in an increase in calls to the Green Phone.<\/strong> We are extremely proud to have encouraged citizens to actively participate in sea protection. The number of reports and inquiries received over the summer clearly shows that pollution is a real issue, that people recognize it, and highlights the importance of preserving the Adriatic sea and the need for collective action. The large number of reports will help us in further advocacy for better protection of the Adriatic ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunce is here to support the citizens as well<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to working on numerous projects in collaboration with Croatian and European partners and conducting advocacy campaigns, we also organize many fun and useful activities for all interested citizens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year in September, we organize the well-known Split Biking Tour<\/a> to encourage people towards sustainable urban mobility and alternative forms of transport, such as cycling. The fun program<\/a> we organize on this occasion in \u0110ardin attracts more and more visitors each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every month, we also organize Swap fair<\/a> where everyone can exchange items they no longer need for ones that will be useful.<\/strong> In this way, we contribute to reducing waste and the carbon footprint caused by growing consumerism, together with the citizens and visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sunce is dedicated to community education, changing the way teaching is conducted through its educational programs for schools and kindergartens<\/strong>, and increasing the inclusion of environmental protection and sustainable development topics in the educational process. Since 2023, Sunce has been awarded the #SKOCKANO<\/a> quality label based on its educational programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
