Such children will develop respect for nature and the living beings within it. By incorporating <strong>education <\/strong>into this equation, children receive an excellent foundation for developing critical and creative thinking skills, which will encourage them to be more engaged in their communities in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the project <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/projects\/small-steps-for-a-sustainable-society-a-journey-towards-environmental-awareness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Small Steps for a Sustainable Society \u2013 A journey towards environmental awareness<\/a><\/em>, we organized an <strong>educational field trip<\/strong> <strong>into nature<\/strong> as the final workshop of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/news\/implementation-of-the-educational-program-small-steps-for-a-sustainable-society\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">educational program <em>Small Steps for a Sustainable Society<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/zeleni_izlet_sunce_4-1024x640.jpg\" alt=\"priroda-djeca-edukatori-ucenici-suma\" class=\"wp-image-27046\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/zeleni_izlet_sunce_4-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/zeleni_izlet_sunce_4-480x300.jpg 480w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/zeleni_izlet_sunce_4-768x480.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/zeleni_izlet_sunce_4-500x313.jpg 500w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/zeleni_izlet_sunce_4.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 This time, the green field trip was organized for the <strong>children of the Kadujica Kindergarten<\/strong>, aiming to connect young participants with nature and develop a deeper understanding of it. The trip also aimed to introduce them to the basic functioning of natural processes and allow them to enjoy learning through socializing, \u2013 said <strong>Miranda \u0160imac<\/strong>, an Associate at Education and Information&nbsp;Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to <strong>Sunce&#8217;s educators<\/strong>, the children were also taught by <strong>students from the Natural Sciences School Split <\/strong>and <strong>a student from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split<\/strong>. This provided, both children and young people, with an opportunity to strengthen their communication skills. It also enabled young people to practice their teaching skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-stem-activities-for-gifted-students\">STEM Activities for gifted students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We conducted two workshops at the Natural Sciences Schoolso that students could apply their acquired knowledge during the implementation of the educational program. In the workshops, we discussed and learned about STEM activities created as part of the project by Professor <strong>Ivana Carev, Ph.D<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 During the green field trip, students independently chose activities to conduct with the children. Those activities were related to identifying plants and insects in nature and assessing soil health. The hiking trail led us to a meadow ideal for outdoor activities, where the most exciting part for the children was setting up tents and preparing for hiking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help them become more aware of the nature around them, we creatively explored the colours and textures of nature through activities, identified plants and insects in the area, and examined soil characteristics. As a keepsake, the children could take home <strong>\u2019My Nature Diary\u2019<\/strong>.
