To show their opinion about sustainable mobility or the lack of it in Split, on Sunday, September 17, around 200 cycling enthusiasts cycled<\/strong> through the streets of Split. Organized by Sunce, the traditional Split Biking Tour emphasized the importance of dealing with the climate crisis, providing an opportunity to reflect on the impact of traffic on the environment<\/strong>. For the twelfth year in a row, this manifestation highlights the problem of congested roads, promotes alternative forms of transport and conveys ideas for improving the cycling infrastructure in Split.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 This year’s Biking Tour would be impossible without our partners the City of Split, the Tourist Board of the Split-Dalmatia County, Split Parking and the Tourist Board of the City of Split. Jointly, we tried to increase citizens’ awareness of the importance of sustainable mobility in the face of the climate crisis<\/strong>. Encouraging alternative modes of transportation, such as cycling and public transport, plays a key role in dealing with the climate crisis. Cycling is not only environmentally friendly, but also a fun way of moving that does not pollute the air. If all of us gave a little thought to how we move, we can foster a more pleasant and healthy environment to live in. \u2013 said organizer Tihana Arapovi\u0107<\/strong>, expert associate of Sunce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 I am delighted with the response of the people and the length of this year’s route. I hope that every year the route will be longer, and that we will influence some paths for daily use by bicycles in Split. \u2013 remarked Dario<\/strong>, one of the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gathered were greeted by the deputy mayor Bojan Ivo\u0161evi\u0107<\/strong>, who himself drove the route of the Split bicycle race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 We are working on the urban mobility of the city of Split because the car is not the solution for everyone. We hope citizens will support the changes that are coming soon. \u2013 said the deputy mayor briefly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rich program and entertainment for all generations in \u0110ardin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The opening of the Split Biking Tour event started at the Church of St. Frane at 15:30, where the participants registered. At 4:00 p.m., all registered cyclists started cycling through the city streets towards the destination \u2013 \u0110ardin. In \u0110ardin, participants were provided with refreshments: stands with fruit, juices and nutritious snacks. The special entertainment program in \u0110ardin included a raffle, a Bauction and an eco-quiz, all accompanied by music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013\u00a0In\u00a0cooperation\u00a0with\u00a0donors,\u00a0Sunce\u00a0has prepared over 30 individual\u00a0prizes\u00a0for the raffle and the Cycling<\/strong> Alka\u00a0in\u00a0\u0110ardin<\/strong>.\u00a0In\u00a0addition\u00a0to the\u00a0grand\u00a0prize\u00a0of\u00a0Extreme Bike Shop bicycle, other attractive\u00a0prizes\u00a0were donated by Red\u00a0adventures,\u00a0Promet\u00a0Split,\u00a0Iris\u00a0adventures, Fitness Centra Joker,\u00a0Ekran,\u00a0bio&bio, City Spa, Inn &\u00a0pizzeria\u00a0Maslina,\u00a0UpCafe, Hair\u00a0salon Like\u00a0and\u00a0Split\u00a0parking.\u00a0\u2013\u00a0said\u00a0Arapovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After ten terns and six cinquinis were drawn, the main raffle prize was won by professor IV. Marko Maruli\u0107 high school from Split.
\u2013 I brought 40 students and lent them my bikes so they could participate in this year’s Bike Fair. That I won the main prize, and that for a bicycle, is absolutely incredible! \u2013 said Natalia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order for everything to go smoothly, Sunce’s employees were substantially supported by volunteers from the School of Natural Sciences, Health and Tourism and Hospitality from Split and the Spinut Sea Scout Detachment<\/strong>. They, among other things, helped at the stands, in the execution of the entertainment program and in guiding the cyclists during the ride itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowledge competitions and in the spirit of Alka of Sinj<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Cycling Alka, a\u00a0competition\u00a0that\u00a0attracted\u00a0a\u00a0lot\u00a0of\u00a0attention, was\u00a0held\u00a0in the\u00a0spirit\u00a0of the\u00a0Sinj\u00a0tradition.\u00a0As many as 17\u00a0participants\u00a0had the opportunity to\u00a0show\u00a0their\u00a0skills\u00a0on the\u00a0bike,\u00a0competing\u00a0in\u00a0precision\u00a0and\u00a0concentration.\u00a0Zipline for two, the\u00a0main\u00a0prize of the\u00a0Cycling Alka, was\u00a0won\u00a0by Luka.

The eco-quiz turned out to be a fantastic opportunity to have fun, learn new things about cycling and the Sun, and claim prizes. The majority of those gathered raised their hands on cycling questions, and the resourceful ones gained knowledge about other topics at the Sunce info-stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Membership or donation for the future of Split<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the fun part in \u0110ardin, visitors could get information about the work of the association Sunce at the info stand and become a free member on the occasion of the association’s 25th anniversary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Any person who supports the vision, mission and goals of Sunce can become a member. The annual membership fee for employees is 10 euros, and for the unemployed, students and pensioners it is 5 euros. On top of that, if you volunteer for 10 hours or more, you are exempt from paying the membership fee for the current year. The membership fee directly supports the protection of nature and the environment and contributes to sustainable development. \u2013 Margita Gospodneti\u0107<\/strong> from Sunce informed us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
