As part of the European Mobility Week from 16th to 22nd September, which encourages cities to introduce sustainable forms of transport, Sunce is organizing the Split Biking Tour<\/strong><\/a> for the 12th year in a row. This year’s Cycling Tour will be held on September 17th, 2023, <\/strong>providing an opportunity to reflect on traffic challenges and promote sustainable mobility in Split.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Objectives and program of Split Biking Tour<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Split Biking Tour highlights the problem of congested roads, promotes alternative forms of transport, and gives ideas on how to improve cycling infrastructure in Split. Sunce has been strongly advocating sustainable traffic for years, and the Split Biking Tour is an opportunity to promote this goal.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Split Biking Tour program traditionally consists of two phases, each with already-known features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 The first phase involves the cycling<\/strong> of all citizens, who share our goals, through the city streets starting from the Church<\/strong> of  St. Francis to \u0110ardin<\/strong>. The second phase includes a special entertainment program in \u0110ardin, i.e. a raffle, a Cycling Alka, and a musical performance<\/strong>. We invite all interested parties to follow our site and social media to discover all the new details about the event. Cycling against the climate crisis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The last decade has seen record-high temperatures. According to the Climate Change Service, 2022 has been recorded as the warmest year in Europe to date. That record is the result of increased greenhouse gas emissions resulting from human activities. Every car ride increases greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, traffic jams extend travel time, increasing fuel consumption and emissions of harmful substances.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 The profound consequences of the crisis, such as biodiversity loss, environmental pollution, additional temperature rises, and negative impacts on human health, are increasingly being observed daily. That is why, in addition to the entertainment part, the Split Biking Tour is the perfect opportunity to review the traffic challenges that affect the climate crisis.  \u2013 added Arapovi\u0107.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For our future, it is important to think about different ways to travel, such as cycling or using public transport. <\/strong>Cycling not only reduces the negative impact on the environment but provides an opportunity for a concrete step towards addressing the climate crisis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is necessary to increase the awareness of citizens and decision-makers about the climate crisis and the benefits of using bicycles and encourage the development of cycling infrastructure.
