{"id":15279,"date":"2022-01-31T11:44:12","date_gmt":"2022-01-31T10:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/?p=15279"},"modified":"2025-01-27T17:02:34","modified_gmt":"2025-01-27T16:02:34","slug":"together-without-plastic-sali-dugi-otok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/news\/together-without-plastic-sali-dugi-otok\/","title":{"rendered":"Together without plastic &#8211; Sali, Dugi otok"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Monday, January 24th, the <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/news\/the-municipality-of-sali-signed-a-decision-to-reduce-the-use-of-disposable-plastic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Municipality of Sali<\/strong><\/a> on the island <strong>Dugi Otok<\/strong>, in cooperation with the <strong>Association Sunce<\/strong>, organized a forum and public event as part of the project <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/vijesti_en\/for-plastic-free-croatian-islands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>For Plastic Free Croatian Islands <\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the city fish market, a stand has been set up in order to educate the <strong>public<\/strong> and raise awareness about harmful impact of plastics on the marine environment while offering alternative solutions for single-use plastic products. For this purpose, reusable items have been presented and distributed to the locals as an alternative solutions for single-use plastic. These reusable foils are made on cotton fabric and they are completely natural, environmentally friendly and biodegradable. The great interest of citizens and the positive attitude they have shared with us regarding the reduction of plastics on the island and the introduction of alternative solutions into their everyday life, has shown us that the desire for change among citizens exists but needs to be encouraged, and this is precisely the goal of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/vijesti_en\/for-plastic-free-croatian-islands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>For Plastic Free Croatian Islands<\/em><\/a> project and its national campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/news\/sunce-association-launches-a-national-campaign-to-reduce-pollution-with-disposable-plastic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Together Without Plastic<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these activities, a meeting was held with project partners and utility company <em>Muli\u0107 d.o.o.<\/em> where we discussed the obligations and results of the <strong>Municipality of Sali<\/strong> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/news\/the-municipality-of-sali-signed-a-decision-to-reduce-the-use-of-disposable-plastic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Decision on limiting the use of single-use plastics<\/em><\/a> and the signed <a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/akcijski-plan_print.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Action Plan<\/strong><\/a>. The Municipality of Sali reported that they are working together with the utility company to introduce a <em>door-to-door<\/em> system, which so far covers the majority of residents while other ones will be introduced in the coming period. The composters have been ordered and interested citizens have already applied to take them. Also, the documentation for a recycling yard on the island Dugi otok is being prepared, while the mobile recycling yard is already in use.
