On Saturday, December 18, we open Plastic free Advent<\/em> in the Town of Stari Grad on Island Hvar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Tvrdalj Square<\/strong>, on two Advent stands, from 11:30 to 14:30, we will show examples of alternative solutions for plastic waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to learn more about products that can replace single use plastic, as well as take home one, make sure you come to Advent’s stands on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the stands, you will be able to find reusable bottles, straws and cups, aprons for fishermen, examples of solutions for fishermen’s boxes and biodegradable cups examples used on Advent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same location, from 11:30 to 12:30, for all interested citizens, school and kindergarten children will be organized a wax making workshop \u2013 these beeswax foil are a replacement for single use plastic foils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This reusable and alternative foil can be easily made on a cotton fabric and it’s completely natural, environmentally friendly and biodegradable. These foils can replace plastic and aluminum foil, plastic bags and food containers. With proper maintenance, they last up to a year, and when they wear out, they only need to be “refreshed” with a new layer of wax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All interested are welcome to bring their samples of cotton fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizens will have the opportunity to find out more about the project For plastic free Croatian Islands<\/a>, which includes Stari Grad<\/strong> as a partner with the implementation of sustainable waste management measures based on the principles of reducing, reusing, recycle, as well as the problem of marine litter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This public event and forum is organized as part of the For plastic free Croatian Islands <\/em>project in a cooperation with the City of Stari Grad<\/strong> and the Komunalno d.o.o., <\/strong>utility company. The project holder is the Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development Sunce<\/strong>, and the partners are the City of Stari Grad (Island of Hvar)<\/strong><\/a>, the Municipality of Sali (Island of Dugi Otok)<\/strong><\/a> and the Friends of the Earth Croatia (ZA)<\/strong>. Collaborators are: SMILO<\/strong>, Zlarin Initiative without Plastics<\/strong>, and the project is supported by the World Wide Fund for Nature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
