It brings together civil society organizations, marine protected area managers, diving centers, the nautical sector, local initiatives, and individuals engaged in marine conservation across the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The network connects its members through an online platform of the same name, provides relevant information, and encourages joint actions to raise public awareness and increase pressure on decision-makers. The goal is to create a strong regional community working together to protect the Mediterranean Sea \u2013 one of the most endangered biological regions in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/medreact_logo-1024x640.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32681\" style=\"width:397px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/medreact_logo-1024x640.png 1024w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/medreact_logo-480x300.png 480w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/medreact_logo-768x480.png 768w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/medreact_logo-500x313.png 500w, https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/medreact_logo.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The network\u2019s work focuses on:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>combating <strong>destructive fishing practices<\/strong>, especially bottom-towed gear that destroys marine ecosystems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sunce-st.org\/en\/news\/alarming-inefficiency-in-protected-area-surveillance-will-we-ever-stop-crimes-against-nature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">improving <strong>the management of marine protected areas<\/strong><\/a> and establishing an ecologically representative and effective network of marine protected areas in the Mediterranean<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>protecting endangered marine species<\/strong> such as sea turtles, rays, and marine mammals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>encouraging citizen and community engagement through <strong>awareness campaigns<\/strong>, education, and participation in advocacy initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is membership in the Mediterranean Action Network important for Sunce?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunce has been a part of this network since 2025. By joining, we further strengthen our contribution to regional cooperation in marine conservation, particularly through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>participating in <strong>joint campaigns<\/strong> and public actions to preserve marine ecosystems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>connecting with organizations and initiatives from other Mediterranean countries<\/strong> (to exchange knowledge and experiences)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>increasing the visibility of national challenges and solutions<\/strong> at the international level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gaining access to up-to-date data, analyses, and materials useful for advocacy, communication, and education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By taking part in the Mediterranean Action Network, Sunce shares experiences from the Adriatic and learns from best practices in other Mediterranean countries.
