In world where coast intertwines with industrial heritage, a story of transformation that brings sustainable prosperity is born. This project, called Strategies for Comprehensive Recovery of Coastal Brownfield Areas \u2013 Coastal Brownfield Remediation<\/strong>, arises from the desire to connect experts from Croatia and Norway in a joint effort to revitalize former industrial complexes like those in Notodden and the ferroalloy plant in Dugi Rat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project Strategies for Comprehensive Recovery of Coastal Brownfield Areas<\/em> arises from the desire to strengthen cooperation between experts from Croatia and Norway<\/strong> in the field of coastal brownfield remediation. This initiative aims to revitalize and preserve marine areas, promoting green and sustainable tourism, while simultaneously working on reducing ecological, economic and social disparities within Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The main goal is to encourage the development and exchange of best practices in brownfield area revitalization, with an emphasis on ecosystem solutions. Such approach allows the preservation of coastal areas while simultaneously creating opportunities for ecologically sustainable tourism. By involving local authorities in Croatia, the project aims to strengthen their capacity for successful collaboration with experts and contribute to reducing ecological, economic and social disparities in European coastal areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, through the student competition Case Study Dugi Rat<\/em>, we provide an opportunity for young minds to tackle environmental challenges and offer solutions from engineering, environmental and social perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Technical visit to the former industrial complex in Notodden<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Technical visit to the former ferroalloy plant in Dugi Rat<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Technical visit to the contaminated soil treatment company Noah (Norway)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Educational workshop on the topic of brownfield area renewal in Dugi Rat Final report \u2013 brownfield area remediation plan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. Developed and shared best practices in brownfield area recovery<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Strengthening the capacities of Croatian experts and stakeholders in brownfield area renewal<\/li>\n\n\n\n

      The project lead partner<\/strong> is the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
