Panel discussion “The Future of the islands in post 2020 Europe”
On March 21, 2017, the Sunce Association participated in a panel discussion on the future of the islands in post-2020 Europe, which was held at the European Parliament in Brussels under the “Water saving challenge” project.
The aim of the project is to present different solutions, combine experiences and make sustainable water management models. The project brings together representatives of eight islands from the EU member countries, two from France, Greece, Ireland and Croatia – Vis and Lastovo. These islands will have the opportunity to present their experience and knowledge in developing a model of water scarcity management and will contribute to the development of water saving plans in 2017.
The Sunce Association for the Croatian part of the project gained the role of an advisory partner. The representative of the Sunce Association in the panel discussion was Nastja Logar, an assistant of the EkoPartner Environmental Responsibility Program for managing small tourist accommodation facilities. Through EkoPartner Sunce has already implemented water saving technology on the islands of Lastovo, Dugi otok and Vis). EkoPartner Program shows how to save water, reduce its consumption by innovative technological solutions and encourage changes in everyday human habits. Our experience will be transferred to the further implementation of the “Water saving challenge” project.
The panel discussion was organized by the Vice-President of the European Parliament House of Representatives, Mr Tonino Picula, who is also the initiator of this project.
