We invite you to participate in a roundtable discussion titled Preservation of the Marine Environment and Coastal Areas in Croatia.
Split-Dalmatia County and the Association for Nature, Environment, and Sustainable Development Sunce, within the project Green Phone – Lend Your Voice to the Environment, are organizing a roundtable discussion on the protection of the marine environment and coastal areas. Citizen reports to the Green Phone indicate that this is an issue that requires greater attention and constructive discussion.
The roundtable discussion will take place on October 16, 2023, at 11 am in the Croatian Chamber of Economy Council Chamber on the 1st floor, at the address Obala Ante Trumbića 4, Split.
Are you interested in what obstacles we still need to overcome to ensure the future of our coastline? Will the new Maritime Domain and Seaports Act prevent issues concerning interventions at the beaches? How can we mitigate the impact of tourism on the environment? Our panelists and representatives from various sectors will, together with you, exchange ideas and strategies for the preservation of the sea.
The Green Phone project will be presented at this event. The purpose of the Green Phone’s work is to encourage citizens to actively participate in the protection of the environment and also to prompt authorized institutions to efficiently address environmental issues.
The presentations will be delivered by:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Pikelj: “Examples of Coastal Erosion and Associated Problems in Split-Dalmatia County”
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dalibor Carević: “Construction on the Maritime Domain”
- Hajdi Biuk, a lawyer at the Association for Nature, Environment, and Sustainable Development Sunce: Citizen Reports to the Green Phone and Current Challenges in the Protection of the Sea and Coastal Areas.
Several representatives from various sectors will participate in the roundtable discussion:
- Marija Vuković, head of the Administrative Department of Public Utilities, Infrastructure and Environmental Protection of Split-Dalmatia County
- Matea Dorčić, head of Administrative Department of Tourism and Maritime Affairs of the Split-Dalmatia County
- Petar Matković, Director of the Spatial Planning Institute of Split-Dalmatia County
- Bojan Ivošević, Deputy Mayor of the City of Split
- Domagoj Lažeta, Director of the Public Institution “More i Krš”
- Joze Tomaš, President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, County Chamber of Split.
