The first Introductory Workshop was held, on October 15, 2023 for a total of 9 educators of the “Kadujica” kindergarten. The workshop was held by Margita Radman, Head of the Department for Education and Information and Martina Talajić, Associate Educator at “Sunce”.

The introductory workshop included meeting the participants through the participatory method Interviewing partners, getting acquainted with the game Secret Friend as well as presenting “Sunce” and the educational program. We also reviewed the environment of the kindergarten, so that we are ready for the composting workshop that is planned for us.

The second workshop Sustainable waste management was reserved for going to the Recycling Yard Okrug, where director Roko Buličić took us on a tour and explained more closely the purpose and need of their business.

After the visit and a closer explanation about the method of waste management at the recycling yard, we continued the workshop in the premises of the “Kadujica” kindergarten, where a lecture on the topic of waste was held by Tea Kuzmičić Rosandić, project manager and expert educator in “Sunce”. At the lecture, we were introduced to different types of waste, the recycling process and why it is important to emphasize the principle of reduction and reuse.

We also covered this topic through the game “Križić – kružić” – shaped in an educational way with the right moves with correct answers. In the end, we made beeswax foils – an ecological replacement for plastic and aluminum foils, which gives an example of how with a little creativity we can replace a one-time thing with a reusable one.

Third workshop Composting – what and how? it was provided for the production of composting in the garden of kindergarten “Kadujica”.
During the workshop, we covered the topic of biowaste, and the ways of exploiting and disposing of this important resource in everyday life. We also learned how compost is made, and how to have and maintain it in your garden through a short lecture. For a better atmosphere during the workshops, we involve participants through various participatory methods, and this time it was the “Blind Artist” method.

In the practical part, we went through in detail all the steps of making the compost: loosening the soil, stacking the wooden frame and the order of stacking the necessary components – branches – leaves – earth – biowaste – soil and finally a green cover.

In this way, all employees and children attending kindergarten will be able to participate in the composting process, and it will be possible to them to get their own compost for growing and planting plants.
