Meet Stefan, our new EVS volunteer!
The Sunce Association has once again become a host of a volunteer from Macedonia. He is called Stefan and since January 2019 he has become a member of the Sunce volunteer team.
Stefans goal is to improve communication skills, budget management skills, meet new people, acquire new knowledge, improve foreign languages, and contribute to the knowledge about healthy food, healthy nutrition and the relationship between environment and food.
We present the new volunteer through a brief interview:
Q: Stefane tell us something about yourself?
S: My name is Stefan Markovski from Skopje, Macedonia. I have completed grammar school and at the age of 24 started work in VEGA restaurant, which is one of the best healthy food restaurants in Skopje. In that restaurant I spent 4 years. I like sports and in leisure time I play football for recreation.
Q: Why did you sign up for this project?
S: I worked at a health food restaurant and have enough knowledge about healthy eating and healthy living. Volunteering here seem an excellent opportunity to be part of a team working on environmental protection, and also as an opportunity to learn more, acquire new knowledge, meet new friends, and more. Healthy environment affects food, so I think that my knowledge of healthy food is a good fit in projects and activities related to environmental protection and a healthy and clean environment.
Q: Why did you choose Split and Croatia?
S: Split is one of the most beautiful Mediterranean cities. The opportunity to spend a year in Split was somewhat a dream come true – to live on the sea. Croatia is generally a country in which I feel at home, since I often stayed in Croatia before the project. I think having an opportunity to volunteer, or in some way work in Split, will be an experience that I will never forget.
Q: Do you have a message for young people who are thinking of participating in Erasmus Plus or EVS?
S: This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to meet new people, new cultures and new languages and gain experience as far as volunteering is concerned. Additionally, I think that this is how you learn work habits. I believe that you will learn with experience how to be independent and how to manage your budget. It will give you the opportunity to perfect some of the specific knowledge and skills that can be used in your further career after the project’s completion.
Within the EVS programme Stefan will be part of various activities, such as workshops, lectures, conferences connected with Dalmatia Green and Green Trips, preparation and dissemination of communication materials(brochures, leaflets, promotional videos, data research, market exploring on sustainable tourism via web pages, support in organization of public events – exhibitions, local fairs, events and a lot of other interesting activities.
We wish a lot of success for our new volunteer and we hope for a productive and happy cooperation!
