End of the Workshops, beggining of an adventure
On May 14, 2018, the last educational workshop of the “Volunteer for NATURE, Volunteer for YOURSELF – School Volunteer Programs in Protected Areas of Nature” project successfully was held in cooperation of Sunce Association and the League for Addiction Prevention. The first group of young volunteers from Split Technical School, Ivan Lucić High School from Trogir and Split Service Center was successfully prepared, who successfully mastered all tasks and obstacles.
The cycle of three workshops that each volunteer group had to go through on volunteering, nature protection, communication skills and personal capacity strengthening has led to more than satisfactory results. With the help of the workshop leader, Miranda Šimac from the Association Sunce, Duška Milinković and Josip Ursić from the League, a group of 25 young volunteers gained new knowledge and skills to help them in future life situations.
As a reward to all the participants who diligently carried out their duties, a two-day volunteer action will be held on 25 and 26 May at NP “Krka”, which is also one of the partners of the project. In these two days, volunteers will be able to apply the acquired knowledge, to study the sights of this National Park, its flora and fauna and to help construct a drywall that is now protected from immaterial cultural good. This trip will also be the project leader’s best indicator of the success of the education that has been promised for the moment.
A valued project, which already gives very positive results at the outset, is closer to the long-awaited first ground. The first group of valuable, young volunteers want all the happiness in carrying out the last task, and for the second patience until autumn when they will go to volunteer action in the Biokovo Nature Park.
